Community Programs
Gateway HorseWorks is excited to offer a wide variety of programs to the community! Working with horses allows people to connect to themselves and those around them in new and profound ways. For many, learning how to overcome fears, develop confidence, and become more self-aware in the arena with the horses is the gateway to stability and wellness in their lives.
Gateway HorseWorks has partnered with Dr. Page Walker Buck, Associate Professor of social work at West Chester University, to evaluate the effectiveness of equine-assisted programming across short and long term outcomes. As an organization, Gateway HorseWorks is deeply committed to ongoing, objective evaluation as a way to assure that clients are receiving services that are effective.

Galloping Home
We are excited to announce a new pilot program, Galloping Home. Galloping Home is a a trauma-informed equine-assisted psychotherapy program developed specifically for women veterans experiencing homelessness.
This program is offered in collaboration with Mary E. Walker House, a transitional housing residence serving women veterans who have found themselves in difficult life situations and without a permanent home. Walker House is a program of Veterans Multi-service Center (VMC), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, and is located on the grounds of the Coatesville VA Medical Center.
Many of these women suffer from military sexual trauma; at present approximately 60% of the residents have this diagnosis. Currently, one of the largest women Veteran transitional residence in the country, the Walker House and its staff strive to provide a comfortable, safe, and secure life-setting, while fostering respect, responsibility, and recovery.
This 8 week pilot program is funded through a grant by the Chester County Women's Commission. If you would like to contribute to this program so it can continue to serve women veterans, please donate today!
