Barn Associate

Gateway HorseWorks 
Location: Malvern, PA 
Join the Gateway HorseWorks’ team of horses and people at our farm facility in Malvern, PA!  With 15 acres and 6 horses, this is an exciting opportunity for an equine professional to join a nonprofit organization delivering cutting-edge Eagala Model equine-assisted psychotherapy in Chester County!

Roles and Responsibilities:
Gateway HorseWorks is seeking to fill a unique, part-time Barn Associate position, with opportunities for growth within the organization, with the following qualifications:
A proven history of working with horses:
  • Ability to execute the daily care and general wellbeing of the herd including:
    • Monitor care & wellbeing of horses
    • Turn out/bring in horses and feed
    • Clean stalls
    • Clean water troughs
    • Throw down hay/straw and stack
    • Pick feet
    • Change blankets when necessary
Collaborative work experience:
  • Partner with the Barn Manager to oversee supply needs for barn & farm
  • Work with volunteers to clean the barn
  • Assist the Executive Director with special projects
Necessary Skills Include:
  • Due to the nature of our services, all applicants must have an ability to pass background checks and provide county mandated clearances.        
  • The ability to complete work efficiently and timely in an organized manner
  • Ability to react quickly and problem solve issues
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • High rate of task completion in both efficiency and quality
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to multitask

Availability & Compensation:
  • This position requires 20-25 hours per week and work on weekends
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
